Join us for this interactive workshop where you will learn
how to adapt books in a number of ways to meet your student’s varying physical
or cognitive needs. Topics will
include:

Choosing
and finding books for classroom adaptation
-
Adapting
books for improved physical and/or visual access
-
Adapting
books for improved language and communication skills
-
The
use of manipulative props to support your books
-
Creating
books with Boardmaker software
-
Creating
interactive e-books for touchscreen and switch access with programs such
as Clicker 5 and Powerpoint
-
Incorporating
the Intellitools keyboard to foster interaction with reading adapted e-books
-
Exploring
internet sites for readymade materials and teacher support
You will leave with one (early childhood level) adapted
book. Although designed for the special education and inclusion professionals,
this course will be beneficial for regular education preschool and kindergarten
staff, as well.
